Ef anybody got de bad disease, yo' kin take shoe sole an burn it [and take these ashes] an' bluestone an' alum [and] bram- booberry [brambleberry] root an' boil it an' mix it together an' give him. Let dem take a tablespoonful ev'ry three times a day an' mix physic salts in it, an' spit some on dose sores. Dat's a solid cure fo' dat, 'cause ah've cured many people wit dat.
